So, being Vegan and vegetarian isn’t all about what you eat, it’s about all the other products you use too: shampoo, hairspray, toothpaste, eyeliner; all sorts of things.
A few weeks ago, myself and Ben ordered this little box of beautiful things from Lush:Aromaco- solid deodorant (replacing Nivea)
Seanik- solid shampoo
Sparkle- toothpaste (replacing Colgate)
Jungle- solid conditioner (replacing Aussie)
If you don’t think it’s right to eat animals, you should probably follow through and not put them in your hair, on your teeth, under your arms; you get the picture.
I would thoroughly recommend Lush to absolutely anyone. I started to use their products about 6 years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since, and have also converted my mum, sister, aunts, granny, ben, pretty much anyone who’s been in my presence for about 10 minutes or more.
I’ve been using the solid shampoo for yonks, and also their bottled shampoo ‘Daddy-O’, but as Daddy-O is so expenive, I figured I should only use it as a blonde-brightening-treat! The solid shampoo I’ve switched to is ‘Seanik’, £5 for a bar and each bar is approximately the same amount of shampoo as 3 bottles, which is pretty damned good value for money is you ask me. It smells, well, LUSH.
I used to also use the Lush conditioner ‘Retread’, which feels absolutely AMAZING in your hair, but also costs a bomb at £9.50 a pot. Because Retread was so expensive, I would use it as a treat, and as my hair is really processed, I’d supplement it and use ‘Aussie’ conditioner on a day to day basis. I had to rethink everything I knew about conditioner when I found out that Aussie are horrible animal testing people (BOO), SO I decided to try Lush’s solid conditioner ‘Jungle’, much cheaper than Aussie and Retread at £2.95 a bar, and its lasting me ages! It smells so damned good that Ben proclaimed ‘I might have to start conditioning my hair…’ Be warned ladies, your other half will soon become as hooked as you!
The last product that we’ve both been really impressed with, was Aromaco, the solid deodorant. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE GODSEND. I’ve pretty much stopped sweating, its vegan, smells amazing, and at £4.40 a bar, it’s great value for money, and sodding fantastic at making your pits smell nice, and your sweat slow right down! (also, top tip, wrap in clingfilm, it won’t dry out as quickly!)
I think Lush’s principles are so admirable, and they make being a veggie just a litttttle bit easier, and pretty cheap if you’re savvy! Check them out here. What’s more is they have branches all around the world, so if you’re from the US, or Australia, Germany, even Sri Lanka, they’re making your life just a tad easier :)
