One of the better-known traditions associated with the day is women proposing to men. Irish legend says this was originally created in a deal between St. Bridget and St. Patrick. I didn’t like The Jilted Elf at first but it slowly grew on me and eventually was the shower gel I turned to whenever I needed a kick up the backside. On one such morning last week I reached for it, it fell out of my hands and promptly slipped down the plug hole (I only had a little bit left). I was gutted. That’ll teach me for not buying more over Christmas.
